Coelodonta antiquitatis left partial jaw (495 mm) Woolly Rhino
Coelodonta antiquitatis (woolly rhinoceros) left partial lower jaw. There are 5 whole teeth in the jaw bone. The rhinoceros fossil came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary in the late 1990s. The dimensions of the jaw are approx .: length 495 mm, height 189 mm, width measured at the last tooth 57 mm, measured at the jaw bend 113 mm. Weight approx: 2689 grams + packaging. The surface of the jaw was preserved with boat varnish more than 20 years ago, making it a bit yellowish in hue. Thicker varnish layers were removed. The entire surface of the jaw was then preserved with PVB (Mowital).
