Deinotherium levius partial tooth ( Deinotherium giganteum )
Miocene age (approx. 13-11 million years old) Deinotherium levius partial lower right m2 tooth. Deinotherium levius is a transitional species between Prodeinotherium bavaricum and Deinotherium giganteum. This tooth is smaller than the described Deinotherium giganteum type tooth, but larger than the bavaricum teeth. The origin of the tooth is Bosnia, Gorni Vakuf, a coal mine. The dimensions of the tooth are approx.: length 77 mm, height 66 mm, width 68 mm. Weight approx.: 306 grams + packaging. When the tooth was found, it was broken in two but was glued together. During the fracture, some pieces fell off the tooth. The surface of the tooth is preserved.
