Miocen Zelkova sp. fossil
Central miocene (Sarmatic) aged manganese dendritic Zelkova sp. leaf print. The Zelkova remain has surfaced in Hungary, near Tokaj village in diatomite (diatomaceous earth) mining. Diatomaceous stone containing the imprinted leaf is highly siliceous through (opaque), shell fracture for this reason. The stone size of about 78 mm x 55 mm x 15 mm. The dendritic manganese print size is approximately 22.5 mm. The stone weighs about 45 grams + packing.
