Pyritized Dactyloceras ammonite from Holzmaden
Pyritized Dactyloceras ammonites of Jurassic age (approx. 200-170 million years) in bedrock. The place of origin of the dactyloceras fossil is a quarry on the edge of the town of Ohmden near Holzmaden, Germany. Time of collection: June 27, 2022. The dimensions of the stone containing the ammonites are approximately: 379 mm x 211 mm x 34 mm. Weight approx.: 1803 grams + packaging. The diameter of the largest Dactyloceras is approx. 90 mm. The ammonites and the whole stone are preserved with cyanoacrylate, which prevents the decomposition of pyrite. In some places the ammonites and stone are shiny from the cyanoacrylate.
