Zelkova sp. Quercus sp. plant fossil from Erdőbénye
Miocene age approx.: 10-13 million years old Zelkova sp. and partial Quercus sp. (oak) leaf impression on bedrock. The plant fossils came to the surface during diatom mining in the Zemplén Mountains near the Erdőbénye settlement in Hungary. Leaf impressions can be seen on a very hard silicified shell-broken stone. The size of the stone is approx: 177 mm x 136 mm x 61 mm. The length of the Zelkova letter impression is approx. 49 mm. The weight of the stone is approx. 1162 grams + packaging.
