Acer cf. integerrimum partial leaf pair from Erdőbénye
Pair of Middle Miocene (Sarmatian) Acer cf. integerrimum (maple) leaf impressions. The leaf fossil was unearthed during diatom mining in the Zemplén Mountains in Hungary near the settlement of Erdőbénye. The dimensions of the silicified diatomaceous rocks containing the impression are approximately: (A): 180 mm x 99 mm x 31.5 mm. Weight approximately: 621 grams + packaging. (B): 129 mm x 98.5 mm x 120 mm. weight approximately: 188 grams + packaging. A leaf impression resembling a crumpled willow leaf can also be seen on the maple leaf and next to it. The larger stone also contains partial leaf impressions of other plants.
