Calcite crystalline Tacheocampylaea doderleini & Helix sp. snails fossils
2-3 million-year-old calcite crystalline 1 Helix sp. and 5 rocks containing Tacheocampylaea doderleini snails. The inside of the stone may contain more fossils. The snail fossils came to the surface during limestone mining in Baranya County, Hungary. The size of the stone containing the snail is approximately: 238 mm x 197 mm x 85 mm. The weight of the stone is approx. 3900 grams + packaging. The stone also contains calcite remains and impressions of several snails. Calcite glows under UV light. Such a large accumulation of snails is probably due to a giant shrew called Beremendia fissidens. This mammal injects a paralyzing poison into the snails with its bite. He accumulated the paralyzed snails for the winter.
