Elephas antiquus tooth (422 grams) Palaeoloxodon antiquus
Pleistocene Palaeoloxodon antiquus (also known as: Elephas antiquus) tooth. The Palaeoloxodon fossil was found during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the tooth are approximately: length 110 mm, height 92 mm, width 58 mm. Weight approximately: 422 grams + packaging. The lower part of the tooth shows sand and gravel calcification. The surface of the tooth is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30. The drying cracks visible on the tooth were filled with cyanoacrylate.
