Halichoerus grypus partial cervical vertebra (Grey seal)
Partial cervical vertebra bone of a Pleistocene grey seal (Halichoerus grypus?). The seal fossil was found during trawling in the North Sea, near the coast of the Netherlands. The dimensions of the vertebra are approx.: length 29 mm, height 49 mm, width 49.5 mm. Weight approx.: 25 grams + packaging. The surface of the vertebra is preserved with Collal glue dissolved in acetone. In some places on the surface of the bone, the remains of Bryozoans that still live in the seabed are visible.
