Mammuthus primigenius astragalus bone
Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) astragal bone. The mammoth fossil came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the bone are approximately: 167 mm x 144 mm x 105 mm. Weight approx.: 935 grams + packaging. Drying cracks are visible on the bone. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
