Mammuthus primigenius partial jaw (10,6 Kg) Woolly Mammoth
Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) partial jaw with 2 whole teeth. The mammoth fossil came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. Dimensions of the jaw: length 535 mm, height 218 mm, width 223 mm. Its weight is approx. 8.6 Kg + packaging. The dimensions of the left tooth are approx.: length 226 mm, height 165 mm, width 82 mm, weight approx. 2078 grams + packaging. The mammoth had a bacterial infection, which is why depressions and holes are visible at the front of the teeth. Two pieces of the jaw bone + the left tooth were found. The bone to be attached to the right jaw was glued together with cyanoacrylate. The surface of the jaw and teeth is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. There are drying cracks on the teeth and jawbone, they were filled with cyanoacrylate.
