Mammuthus primigenius partial skull (19650 grams) Woolly Mammoth
Partial skull of Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) with two teeth. This mammoth fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Győr-Moson-Sopron County, Hungary. The dimensions of the teeth (including the attached cranial bone) are approximately: (A) length 396 mm, height 269 mm, width 161 mm; weight approx. 9600 grams + packaging. (B) length 275 mm, height 225 mm, width 109 mm; weight approx. 6040 grams + packaging. Tooth (B) was found in two pieces and has been reassembled using cyanoacrylate. Drying cracks are visible on the teeth. A significant portion of the skull is missing; it consists of 12 surviving fragments. The combined weight of these 12 cranial fragments is approximately 19,650 grams + packaging. The surfaces of the bones have been consolidated with Polyvinyl Butyral 30, dissolved in ethanol.
