Mammuthus primigenius partial skull bone (424 mm)
Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) partial skull bone from the posterior cervical vertebra. The mammoth skull fragment was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the bone are approximately: length 220 mm, height 159 mm, width 424 mm. Weight approximately: 2455 grams + packaging. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. The interesting thing about the skull is that hyena chewing marks are visible on the back.
