Mammuthus primigenius partial tooth from Maasvlakte strand
A tooth plate of Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) worn away by the waves of the sea. The place of origin of the mammoth fossil is Maasvlakte beach, the Netherlands. Approximate dimensions: length: 8 mm, height 67 mm, width 34.5 mm. Weight approx.: 23 grams + packaging. The tooth piece is in its natural state and is not preserved. It is interesting that tooth enamel is shaped like a hand. In some regions, similar mammoth teeth were called guard hands.
