Mammuthus primigenius partial tusk (400 grams)
Mammuthus primigenius (woolly mammoth) manganese dendritic partial tusk piece. The mammoth fossil was unearthed in the Gerecse Mountains in Komárom - Esztergom County, Hungary, during limestone mining in the summer of 2024. The tusk's dimensions are approximately: length 201 mm, largest diameter 68 mm. Weight approximately: 400 grams + packaging. The surface of the tusk is preserved with a substance called Polivynyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. This tusk is not suitable for processing or carving without further stabilization. The tusk's special feature is that it was found in freshwater limestone. Thanks to this, it has remained a beautiful white color.
