Megaloceros giganteus metacarpus bone (322 mm)
Pleistocene Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer) metacarpal bone. The deer fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the bone are approximately: Length: 322 mm, width 67 mm, thickness 45 mm. Weight approximately: 577 grams + packaging. Drying cracks are visible on the bone. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
