Megaloceros giganteus metatarsus bone (370 mm)
Pleistocene age Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer) metatarsus bone. The deer fossil was unearthed during gravel mining near Győrújfalu in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary, more than 20 years ago. The dimensions of the bone are approximately: Length: 370 mm, width 72.8 mm, thickness 65 mm. Weight approximately: 863 grams + packaging. Drying cracks are visible on the bone. In some places on the surface of the bone, traces of old instant adhesive conservation are visible. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
