Megaloceros giganteus partial antler (540 mm)
Partially shed antler of Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer) from the Pleistocene period. The Megaloceros fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the antler are approximately: the greatest distance between the two ends is 540 mm. The greatest diameter of the antler rose (crown) is 96.2 mm. The weight of the antler is approximately: 2227 grams + packaging. The surface of the antler is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. Drying cracks are visible on the antler.
