Megaloceros giganteus partial skull (343 mm)
Partial skull bone of a Pleistocene large deer (Megaloceros giganteus or Alces alces) with badly worn teeth. Since the part of the skull that holds the antlers is missing, I cannot decide for sure which species it belongs to. Megaloceros remains are significantly more common at the site, so this is more likely. The deer fossil came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the skull are approximately: length 343 mm, height 147 mm, width 203 mm. Weight approx.: 1619 grams + packaging. The skull bone was preserved about 20 years ago. Its surface is shiny due to the preservative.
