Megaloceros giganteus partial skull ( Irish Elk )
Partial skull bone of a Pleistocene Megaloceros giganteus (giant deer). The Megaloceros fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the skull bone are approximately: length 169 mm, width 286 mm. The largest diameter of the antler rose (crown) is 87 mm. The weight of the skull is approximately: 2024 grams + packaging. The surface of the skull is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
