Old Mammoth tooth (625 gram)
Old mammoth (Mammuthus sp.) tooth. The tooth was found in Pest County Hungary during mining, in September 2015.
The speciality of the tooth, that comes from a so very old mammoth, which inexorably frayed completely the tooth enamel during the chewing.
Because without enamel it was no longer able to chew properly, so probably died of starvation.
The tooth is whole, only missing some parts of the root.
Measuring approximately 132 mm x 156 mm x 52 mm. It weighs about 625 grams + packing.
The mammoth type is hard to determine with certainty because of the extremely small amount of tooth plate, but was found in such a Mine, where most of the mammoth remains, come from Mammuthus meridionalis.
The tooth surface is preserved with PVB (Mowital) against sputtering.
