Populus sp. leaf fossil from Hungary
Miocene age (approx. 14 - 18 million years) Popolus sp. leaf fossil in pairs. The leaf print came close to the surface during coal mining in the Börzsöny Mountains in Hungary. The size of the stone containing the leaf impression is: A: 131 mm x 82 mm x 82 mm. weight: 740 grams. B: 97mm x 78mm x 52mm. weight: approx. 260 grams + packaging. The leaf fossil stone could have been near the surface for a long time, which is why the rock is in a cracked state. The surface of the fossil and the rock was preserved with cyanoacrylate.
