Thaumatopteris brauniana fern fossil from Mecsek Mountain
The partial leaf imprint of a fern called Thaumatopteris brauniana from the Jurassic period (approx. 200 million years old). The fern fossil is from Hungary, Mecsek Mountains, Pécs-Vasas coal mine. The dimensions of the stone containing the leaf imprint are approx. 170 mm x 139 mm x 28 mm. Its weight is approx. 500 grams + packaging. The fern fossil is in its natural state, not preserved. The leaves of the Thaumatopteris brauniama fern reached a length of 50 cm.
