Zelkova ungeri leaf from Erdőbénye SOLD (DDF) 02
Miocene (approx. 10-13 million years old) Zelkova ungeri (elm) leaf impression on diatom silicified bedrock. The plant fossils were unearthed during diatom mining in the Zemplén Mountains near the settlement of Erdőbénye in Hungary. A very hard silicified shell-broken stone shows the impression of a leaf and fragments of other leaves. The dimensions of the stone are approximately: 123 mm x 98 mm x 22 mm. weight approx.: 116 grams + packaging. The length of the Zelkova letter impression is approx. 34 mm.
