Megaloceros giganteus partial antler & skull (490 mm)
Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer) partial antler. The remains of the antler came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The length of the deer fossil is approx. 490 mm. The maximum thickness of the antler rose is 95 mm. The weight of the Megaloceros fossil is approx. 1917 grams + packaging. Drying cracks are visible on the antler. The surface of the antler is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30. The surface of the antler is shiny due to the preservative.
