Podocarpium podocarpium pod fruit imprint in pair from Erdőbénye
Middle Miocene Sarmatian (ca. 13 - 10 million years old) Podocarpium podocarpium fruit imprint in a pair of silicified diatoms. The larger stone has two partial Quercus (oak) leaf impressions on the back. The impression was found during diatom mining near the settlement of Erdőbénye in the Zemplén Mountains, Hungary. The dimensions of the stones containing the impression are approx.: (A): 154 mm x 77 mm x 30 mm. Weight approx.: 236 grams + packaging. (B): 74 mm x 48 mm x 7 mm, weight approx.: 20 grams + packaging. The Podocarpium impression is approx.: 32.5 mm. The stone contains other leaf impressions and drying cracks.
