Podocarpium podocarpium fruit and seed in pair
Middle Miocene Sarmatian (approx. 13 - 10 million years old) Podocarpium podocarpium pod and seed impression in a pair of diatoms. The print came to the surface during diatomaceous earth mining in Hungary, in the Zempléni Mountains near the settlement of Erdőbénye. The dimensions of the stones containing the impression are approximately: (A): 180 mm x 164 mm x 45 mm. Weight: approx. 548 grams + packaging. The size of the Podocarpium impression is approx. 53 mm. (B): 170mm x 133mm x 37mm. Weight approx.: 316 grams + packaging. On this piece of diatom, in addition to the Podocarpium print, there is also a white print of a Zelkova ungere leaf. Diatomaceous earth is very soft and its surface dusts easily, so its surface is conserved.
