Turitella sp. in rock from Hungary
Eocene age Turitella sp. snail (stone intestine) fossils in rock. The fossils were found during coal mining in the Bakony Mountains, Hungary, near the settlement of Dudar. The mud that filled the snail's shell petrified. Over time, the shell material dissolved back and the filling remained. The size of the stone containing the snail and other fossils is approx.: 179 mm x 157 mm x 91 mm. The weight of the Eocene age stone is approx.: 2527 grams + packaging. The stone also contains the remains of other fossils.
