Zelkova ungeri leaf pair from Erdőbénye
Miocene age (approx. 10-13 million years old) Zelkova ungerei (elm) leaf imprint in pairs on the surface of silicified diatom. The plant fossil was found during diatom (diatomaceous earth) mining in the Zemplén Mountains in Hungary near the settlement of Erdőbénye. The dimensions of the stones are approx.: (A): 103 mm x 87 mm x 32 mm. Weight approx.: 154 grams + packaging. (B): 73 mm x 50.6 mm x 8 mm. Weight approx.: 15 grams + packaging. The length of the Zelkova leaf imprint is approx.: 30.8 mm
