Megaloceros giganteus partial maxilla Irish Elk
Partial left lateral maxilla bone of a Pleistocene Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer) with 6 teeth. The deer fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the maxilla are approximately: length 162 mm, height 76.6 mm, width 54 mm. Weight approximately: 363 grams + packaging. The surface of the maxilla is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
