Partial jaw of a very old Megaloceros giganteus
Partial right lower jaw from a very old animal, Megaloceros giganteus (Irish giant deer). The deer fossil was unearthed during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The jaw dimensions are approximately: length 268 mm, height 143 mm, width 37 mm. Weight approximately: 593 grams + packaging. The surface of the jaw is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. Some drying cracks are visible on the jaw bone.
