Bison priscus metatarsal bone (294 mm)
Bison priscus (steppe bison) metatarsal bone. The remains of the bone came to the surface during mining in Pest County, Hungary. The size of the bone is approx.: length 294 mm, width 79.5 mm, thickness 67 mm. Weight: approx. 878 grams + packaging. The bone is in a very dry state and contains many cracks. The cracks were filled with cyanoacrylate. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol.
