Equus sp. metatarsal bone (288 mm) Horse
Pleistocene Equus sp. (ancient horse) metatarsal bone. The horse fossil came to the surface during gravel mining in Pest County, Hungary. The dimensions of the bone are approx.: length 288 mm, width 59 mm, thickness 51 mm. Weight: approx. 580 grams + packaging. The surface of the bone is preserved with a substance called Polyvinyl Butyral 30 dissolved in ethanol. Drying cracks are visible on the bone.
