Gigantopecten nodosiformis on rock from Zebegény (9,25 Kg)
Miocene (Badenian) age (approx. 14-17 million years old) Gigantopecten nodosiformis partial shell fossil on rock.
The shell fossil came to the surface during limestone mining in Hungary in the Börzsöny Mountains near the Zebegény settlement at the beginning of May 2023.
The dimensions of the stone containing the shell are approx. 338 mm x 221 mm x 221 mm. The dimensions of Gigantopecten are approximately: 124 mm x 137 mm. The weight of the stone is approx. 9.25 Kg + packaging.
