Schizaster globulus (47 mm) from Hungary SOLD (PA) 08
Eocene age (approx. 45-50 million years old) Schizaster globulus sea urchin fossil. Schizaster is a perfectly prepared whole specimen. Natural cracks and small re-dissolutions are visible in some places on the calcitized shell. The sea urchin came to the surface during bauxite mining near the settlement of Kincsesbánya in the Bakony Mountains in Hungary. Schizaster measures approx: 47mm x 42mm x 31.5mm. Weight: approx. 70 grams + packaging.
