Zelkova ungeri leaf from Erdőbénye (42 grams)
Miocene age (approx. 10-13 million years old) Zelkova ungeri (elm) leaf impression on the surface of diatom (diatomaceous earth). The plant fossil came to the surface during diatom mining near the settlement of Erdőbénye in the Zemplén Mountains in Hungary. The dimensions of the diatom are approximately: 89 mm x 58 mm x 13 mm. weight: approx. 42 grams + packaging. The length of the Zelkova letter impression is approx. 32 mm. The diatom is very soft and crumbly, so its surface is preserved.
